Robo-advisors or robo-advisers are a class of financial adviser that provide financial advice and investment management online with moderate to minimal human intervention
Kenanga Investment bank's digital investing app is the latest robo advisor (approved by Securities Commission Malaysia) to be launch in year 2022. The most recent robo advisor launched was last year was Akru , by ex BFM's Julian Ng. The Kenanga robo advisor is called KDI (Kenanga Digital Investing). Interestingly also, Rakuten Trade is a joint partner of Kenanga Investment Bank.
I haven't done much research on this KDI robo advisor yet, I've just done the sign ups online , just needed to upload front and back copy of IC, then answer a series of queries and my application got approved within the same day. From what I read from news is it has 2 products KDI Save and KDI Invest. I sign ed up using the web version of the website but they have mobile app also.
KDI Save is a cash management fund (money market) fund. The indicative return for KDI Save is 2.25% per annum but they are having a promotional rate of 3.00% until December 2022.
Fees (management fees) are free for investments less than RM3,000. Above this limit, a management fee between 0.3% to 0.7% per annum will be charged. Minimum initial investment is RM250. Minimum age to open is 18 years old. Minimum withdrawal amount is RM10 for KDSave and RM100 for KDInvest.
KDI Invest on the other hand offers access to clients to US based ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) but is dominated in RM. Therefore do expect fluctuations of USD/MYR exchange rates to affect the performance of the robo advisor (eg Forex gains and losses).
From the interface shown, I have yet to see anything that sets it apart from its peers yet. I will park some funds here in a few days time to test out this robo advisor.

I just deposited the minimum amount into KDI Save (RM100) and KDI Invest (RM250). Transaction can be done using FPX/Interbank. Let this be the start of my investment journey on KDI robo advisor. Deposits are made into trust account Pacific Trustees.

My KDI Save gave a 1 cent interest overnight. KDI Invest still not moving, I suppose the funds are in the process of being invested in US ETFs.

KDI Invest is active now with slight negative returns due to initial costs investing into ETFs. My risk profile for KDI Invest is "Balanced". This is the assigned risk profile given by the robo advisor after I answered the series of investor risk profile questionnaire.
I'm not able to see which ETF the robo advisor invests in only the asset allocation and geographical allocation.

I topped up another RM500 into KDI Invest. Might not be a good time considering Russia and NATO going to war but I think markets have been beaten down a bit already (US markets). Robo advisor type of investments are quite similar to mutual fund/unit trusts, require dollar (RM) cost averaging over time. The future is always uncertain and nobody can time the market. I'm planning to put like ~RM100 RM200 into KDI Save this month more like a savings plan for me.

Time files, march is here and I got a bit of beginner's luck after topping up. Portfolio now in positive territory despite the ongoing Russia invasion of Ukraine.

Topped up further my salary to KDI robo. At the moment markets are very uncertain, seem to be beginners' luck or the market is doing a dead cat bounce.

Meanwhile in the news, the robo advisor has 100 million assets under management already. That's a big milestone for KDI.

World markets getting jittery after Fed interest rates hikes and war in Ukraine makes made my KDI Invest to go into red a bit, I've however topped up KDI save to capitalized on the promotional 3% interest which will end in Dec 2022.
