My primitive rain water harvesting method. It's amazing that after 1 hour of rain the whole bucket can be filled with water. I mostly use it to water plants and wash the car. My neighbor also uses this method but she collects it from the drips from her air conditioner. I noticed that she starts collecting the water at night and by morning the whole pail/bucket is full already.
You can't really save much as residential water is dirt cheap in Malaysia but it's just a good habit to remind myself to save water as it's a scarce resource.
In future, I'm definitely thinking of building a DIY rain water harvesting system with pipes and some sort of filtration system.
