This post relates to my friend’s house’s water leaking problem.
He recently discovered water stain marks on the ceiling, paint was peeling off the ceiling and got worse day by day (it was during raining season). The ceiling area was very near to where his water storage tank and pump were. His branded electric pump was also giving some weird noises.
His regular plumber happened to be busy so he decided to do some investigation himself, he took a ladder and climbed up into the water tank storage area and was shocked to find his water storage area was flooded with at least 1.5 inches of rain water.
At first he saw a small plant coming out from the 1.5 inches of water but ignored it. From some random thought he decided to pluck out the plant. It wasn’t easy to remove the plant which indicates that the plant had been there for quite some time. After he managed to pluck out the plant, suddenly the rain water started flowing away and it was discovered that the plant was growing out from the drainage hole.
To prevent future such issues, he use water proofing glue on the sides of the drainage hole after cleaning up the dirt accumulated by the plant.
Whole event probably saved him at least RM 300.
