Newly moved in tenant complained that they were not able top open new Unifi account because previous tenant did not close their Unifi account. Worst still was the ex tenant sublet the unit and the account was registered under the sublet tenant name. Good thing was I manage to contact the ex tenant and sublet tenant and they promised to go close the account as soon as possible.
It’s a win win situation because by not closing the Unifi account, the billing will keep on running whether the ex tenant is still using the account or not and legal action could be taken against the ex tenant.
Lessons learnt is to make sure the previous tenant closes their TM Unifi account before moving out.
I understand from Telekom Malaysia that if the ex tenant is not contactable the account can be terminated by the landlord but the following information is required.
- Landlord Name
- Landlord IC
- Tenant Name (account which is registered under)
- Tenant IC
- Phone Number and Unifi account number
TM Unifi offers a chat feature on their website that allows you to close the account online conveniently. However, ensure that you have all the necessary information on hand, as the chat will be terminated if you fail to reply fast enough. By taking these steps, you can avoid unnecessary complications and enjoy seamless access to your Unifi account.
