DIY Landlord - Installing shower curtain and rails

Most toilets in newly collected condominiums do not come with a shower screen. I was once quite naive to think that a glass shower screen was affordable. I was quoted in thousands for a glass shower screen.

A more cost effective way is to install pvc shower curtain instead of glass shower screen. I even DIY the whole process from buying the raw materials and installing.

Shower curtain
The tools needed was screws, a shower pole, shower pole end caps and shower curtain.  The screws were used to drill in the shower pole caps. The shower pole is made of stainless steel hollow metal. This pole and pole caps can be purchase from hardware shops that sells pvc, steel and aluminium pipes. A very very important tip to remember is to measure the pole length as accurate as possible. I did not measure it properly and ended up buying a slightly shorter shower pole.

How I fix the problem was to buy those black rubber donut shaped washers and slip behind the shower pole caps. This was the shorter shower pole I bought could fit.

Glass shower screens typically are used in high end properties and hotels. It gives the bathroom a luxurious look. However, it can work against you as it comes with 1 major issue, cleaning. Soap and dirt mildew can form on the glass panels which will make it very very hard to be removed using normal detergent. Using a shower curtain on the other hand, the curtain only costs below RM20 (can get from MrDIY) as looks just as elegant if use a cream colored one compared with a glass shower screen.
