Razer Pay ewallet for milennials and gamers Referral Code - 1rNNvv - Razer Pay eWallet will cease operation 31 August 2021

❗ Update : Razer Pay eWallet will cease operation 31 August 2021

Razer Pay is an ewallet πŸ‘› app in Malaysia. It is not so well known as BoostPay, TouchNGo and GrabPay. However, it has it roots in Singapore and some big names behind it. Razer Pay is a joint vendor between Razer and Malaysian conglomerate Berjaya Group.

Razer was one of the 1st companies that reinvented computer hardware buy coming out with gamers specific computer hardware. It has its roots in Singapore and started off by Tan Min Liang and Robert Krakoff. The company has got fundings from Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka Shing (aka Li Ka Ching) and Singapore’s govenrment fund Temasek Holdings. The company is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Berjaya Group on the other hand is no stranger to Malaysian consumers controls a wide range of business from football clubs, hotels, well known franchise brands (Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and Kenny Rogers Roasters,7-11). As such, the Razer Pay ewallet can be used for transactions on all Berjaya group of companies.
Razer Pay differentiates itself from other ewallets by being millennial focused. From the Razer Pay ewallet, users can easily buy Stream PUBG and even Razor's own Razer Gold gaming credits. These gaming credits are used by gamers to buy play time to their favourite online game.

Razer Pay has got a MyQR Code features for friends to scan it to pay you money. You probably can use it for your online business also.

Razer Pay is not as popular yet as there are not much promotion and marketing done previously by Razer Pay. They are now ramping up these activities in recent months from November 2019, their Facebook page and Instagram pages has more and more content being generated. Their merchant list also is expanding from just Berjaya group of companies. In fact, KK Supermarket also now accepts Razer Pay. I mainly use Razer Pay for paying my Starbucks Coffee and also buying newspaper for my parents at 7-11 and hence the low balance in my Razer Pay. I use it as a backup ewallet from BoostPay and TouchNGo. I do have BigPay ewallet but I only use it to buy Airasia air tickets.

If you still have yet to sign up to Razer Pay, you can use my referral code 1rNNvv. You will get a welcome bonus on your Razer Pay ewallet of RM5. I will also get the same amount. All you have to do is download the mobile app from Apple Appstore or Android Playstore then register and key in my referral code in the referral code text box.

While the ewallet market place in Malaysia is quite packed already and Razer Pay was not in the eTunai list of ewallet providers, I still feel this ewallet is here to stay in the long term given their strong partnership with Berjaya Group and strong shareholder backing. Razer is also one of the bidders for Singapore’s digital banking licenses which I believe they have quite big goals to be part of the fintech ecosystem in the South East Asian region.

Razer Pay also announce not too long ago they will issue VISA debit cards that are tied to Razer Pay ewallet. This concept is very similar to BigPay ewallet. The VISA debit card can be used at merchants that do not accept ewallet but accept credit/debit cards. This is one of the improvements I see Razer Pay doing and as such I am quite sure Razer Pay is in this payment space for the long run,
