Why are young people in Malaysia going into the stock market in herds and making the stock market look like a casino

I noticed a lot of young people  (millennials) signing up to trade stocks and stock markets are at record highs now. My friends working at the stock broking firms are also saying that there are backlogs in approving client applications.

When I recently just surveyed the returns of fixed deposits I was very surprised the interest rates was below 2%. It therefore comes as no surprise why people are not putting money into fixed deposits as the returns are below inflation rate of 3%. Current central bank policies do not encourage savings as the banks wants to reboot the economy by getting people to spend out of the recession.
