Maybank Malayan Banking Virtual AGM Annual General Meeting 2021

Maybank attempted to hold their 63th virtual AGM, the 2nd year running a virtual AGM via their share registrar Tricors. The video live stream was hosted at Tricors while the broadcast team were at Menara Maybank. In order to access the video live stream, shareholders have to log into Tricors website.

In 2020, the 1st virtual AGM Maybank held, they gave out RM50 "ewallet" money into their MAE (Maybank Anyway Everywhere) ewallet as a token of appreciation to shareholders who exercised their rights to vote for company resolutions. This goodies announcement was not pre informed and many investors of Maybank were not aware and as such the participation level was low.

This year 2021, armed with this knowledge and also emails from Maybank PR on announcement that Maybank will continue to give out "ewallet" money for participation, much much more shareholders registered to join the virtual AGM.

On the hour before the AGM started, the logon to Tricors site was already slowing down and it went into standstill at 10AM+. Many people were not able to login to Maybank share registrar Tricors site to view Maybank's AGM. After 20-30mins of slowness, Tricor rectified the situation by limiting access to the live stream but allow voting of company resolutions. Not sure what happened between Maybank and Tricor later where Maybank then announced the postponement of their virtual AGM.

Hopefully Maybank and Tricors can work out and make the AGM experience better, I'm sure this is a good experience for Maybank and Tricor not to underestimate the power mass and volume. In normal physical AGMs also (not necessary Maybank) we can see people fighting for food/buffet and gift vouchers

I look forward to their next AGM as it's always packed with valuable data about the company, I equate Maybank as Singapore's DBS Bank, forward thinking and more innovative than their peers.

Nonetheless, MAE wallet by Maybank is an awesome app, I've stopped using Maybank2U mobile app since switching to use MAE wallet by Maybank. MAE wallet is one of the wallet that can do DuitNOW QRPay, Malaysia's universal QRcode, I use MAE to pay my bills at restaurants and hardware shops etc. Maybank have stated MAE wallet app will replace Maybank2U mobile app in the coming years once the app gains more traction. I also use MAE's tabung (virtual coin bank) features not so much to put cash to save for a rainy day but the automatic round up features that automatically rounds up your purchases via the App and then puts the round up figures into the tabung to create a kind of force savings like behavior.

The new date for the postponed Maybank AGM has been set at 2021-5-6 (6th May). However, those who attended the postpone AGM previously already got their door gift RM50 in their MAE wallet.

Maybank finally held their 2021 AGM smoothly today after the 1st postponement.

Maybank shareholders were pleasantly surprised to be getting another RM50 in their MAE wallet 1 day earlier before the AGM besides the earlier one given. In total Maybank shareholders who registered for Maybank's AGM got RM100 in their MAE wallet.

The Edge financial did an article about the AGM here. Maybank unveiled their M25 plan to achieve certain targets by year 2025. Meanwhile Maybank also made provisions in preparation of more loan quality degradation with the ongoing MCO 3.0.

Maybank shared price has recovered a lot since the 2020 Covid19 crisis. Maybank share price is currently trading above the physiological RM8 price.
