You cannot underestimate what love can do
Tinder Swindler is now showing on Netflix. It's based on a real story of the actual cassanova who tricked many woman into thinking he was the son of a Russian diamond billionaire Lev Leviev. He wowed the woman with his supposedly jet setting lifestyle and then did a rug pull to ask money from the woman purportedly saying his life was in danger. Now some of the victims have banded together to tell their story of this guy in this Netflix documentary special.
It is said to trick a woman is to manipulate her emotions, to trick a man is to manipulate his sexual urge. Just close to home in Malaysia we see many cases of woman / man getting tricked and scammed through dating websites and social media sites. There was a study done by a dating site (I think was HelloCupid) , it mentioned that 20% of men get 80% of the women while 80% of the woman woman only go for 20% of the man (yes, read it again). The point highlights the weaknesses of dating apps, an average man only get the bottom quality of woman while the average woman wants the top quality man. It's no wonder sometimes a lot of stuff that seems too good to be true becomes a scam, the chances of an average woman biting a top 20% man is very low on dating apps and it doesn't make sense for a top 20% man to be on a dating app as he has plenty of choices out there.
This Casanova (Shimon Hayut) in the movie presented himself as the top 20% guy to the woman on dating sites (Tinder). He serenades the woman with his cars (lambo, ferrari), jets and impeccable fashion sense. He creates a certain mystery to the lady sometimes by revealing he is a mossat agent (Isreali version of secret service). He creates social proof by having himself pictures with bodyguards and butlers. No wonder the woman all get smoke screened by this guy.
Currently this Casanova (Shimon Hayut) is banned from Tinder but still living the high life and is still active on Instagram. I heard he is planning to sue Netflix for this as a result of gaining so much unwanted attention after the movie was released.
