I'm currently testing out Infina, a digital investment app from Vietnam that has received a lot of positive reviews and backing from prominent venture capitalists. It's been dubbed the Robin Hood app of Vietnam due to its low investment entry point of just 10,000 VND (~RM2).
One thing that impressed me about Infina is its user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. However, it's worth noting that the app is not a robo-advisor, and it doesn't require users to enter investment goals or balance their portfolios.
Infina seems to position itself as a micro-investing super app with a range of investment products, including money markets, stocks, mutual funds/ETFs, and even real estate. Investors can purchase odd units of stocks, making it accessible to those who cannot afford to buy in units of 100 or 1000.
I also invested in the E1VFVN30 fund, which tracks the Vietnamese VN30 index closely. The app allows small investments, and investors can purchase odd units of stocks, making it easy to enter the market. The app also offers other mutual funds/unit trusts from VinaCapital, Mirae Capital, and SSI.
I was particularly intrigued by the real estate component of the app, which allows users to buy a small share/ownership of a condominium block under construction, selected by Infina. The completed properties will be rented out and the profits will be divided equally among investors. Infina will evaluate, analyze the best time and sell real estate to take profits for investors.
Do note at this moment the concept of fractional real estate ownership is very foreign concept in Vietnam (even in Malaysia) and there are no strong regulatory guidance from the Vietnamese government authorities on this.
One of the featured condominiums is the EcoXuan Sky residences in the Bình Dương district of Ho Chi Minh City, a development by Malaysia's SP Setia's Vietnamese subsidiary. The profits from the sale of the condominium will be split among all buyers. While I'm still reading up on this feature, it's an exciting concept given the increasing real estate prices in Vietnam.
The Infina app is quite addictive as it sometimes do stock drops whereby you will be given a very tiny piece of the stock once in a while, making the whole process feel like playing a game.
Overall, Infina is an interesting investment app, especially for non-native Vietnamese speakers living in Vietnam. Its range of investment products and low entry point make it accessible to many, and the user interface is smooth and easy to use.
Please be aware that there are numerous fraudulent individuals posing as the Infina app and employing cloned applications to deceive innocent people and exploit their hard-earned funds.
It is important to be aware that, unlike Malaysia, Vietnam does not yet have a regulatory framework in place for Fintech companies. As a result, investment applications such as Infina carry a certain degree of risk. In Vietnam, the governing body responsible for securities-related regulations is the SSC (Vietnam State Securities Commission), whereas its counterpart in Malaysia is the Securities Commission.
(for Vietnamese or people with Vietnamese number and bank account, not available in Malaysia)
