This just came in that popular payment gateway company ipay88 had a data breach recently in May 2022. The company only issued a statement to the media in Aug 2022.
No news on how the breach happened at the company yet.
While ipay88 mentioned that they have further strengthened their security after this incident, no information given on how many user's payment information were affected but we can assume it's a really bad one as the company only chose to go public on this news after 2 months.
In the perfect world, the best way to handle this breach is for everyone to change their credit card if they previously paid before via ipay88. However, it's sometimes not so convenient to do so and as such the 2nd best step to take for users is to monitor their credit card transactions closely for now.
