There's a dark side to QR Code, scammers can paste their QRcode to the existing's merchant's QR Code. This scam technique is called QRcode hijacking. Unsuspecting victims will be paying money to the scammer instead of the merchant.

How can I protect myself?
To protect from this kind of scams, users need to always check the merchant name and confirm with the merchant. Sometimes, the name on the QRcode does not match the name of the shop but this could be normal.

In conclusion, the QR codes are a great way to open URLs and make payments. 
But they can be hijacked. So be careful with what you scan! 

There's reports some people prepare the fake QRPayment receipt to merchants/retailers on the spot. This means that the payment were superimposed on a fake picture and shown to the merchant.
