Do not pick up video calls from unknown numbers
Reports of individuals receiving unsolicited video calls on WhatsApp have raised concerns, as scammers exploit these calls to record the conversation and overlay explicit content, often involving nudity or compromising situations. Subsequently, they threaten victims with sharing this doctored content with their friends and family, as well as making it go viral on the internet. This form of cybercrime, known as "Cyber Sextortion," is aimed at extorting money from the victims by providing their SWIFT/Paypal mule accounts, emphasizing the need for vigilance and reporting such incidents to authorities.
Initially this scam started in India but now seem like some poor Malaysia victims are getting these video calls now.
Even if you get scammed, just ignore the messages and block the user. Never negotiate with blackmailers.
