eMadani is a Malaysian government initiative launched in 2023 under the "Ekonomi Madani: Memperkasa Rakyat" (Empowering the People through a Civilized Economy) framework. It aims to stimulate the digital economy and encourage cashless payments by offering eligible citizens RM100 in e-wallet credit.
The e-wallet credits are non-transferable to cash and are intended exclusively for consumption-related transactions. In response to emerging threats, the government has issued a cautionary advisory, highlighting the prevalence of fraudulent activities targeting vulnerable individuals seeking cash withdrawals. Scammers exploit desperate individuals by deceitfully promising to facilitate cashouts. This deceptive tactic involves the scammer persuading the victim to transfer their eMadani credits with the false assurance of receiving a sum, subtracting service charges. It is crucial to recognize that the transferred amount, touted for cash withdrawal in banks, is a ploy employed by the scammer, leading to financial losses for unsuspecting victims.
