WeChat Hijacking and then asking hijack account's friends for money

Wechat, a multifunctional China super app, combines messaging, social media, and payment features. With over a billion users, it's a digital powerhouse integral to daily life in China. Its versatility spans from chatting with friends to conducting financial transactions seamlessly, making it a central hub for communication and lifestyle management.

It was reported hackers are hacking people's Wechat accounts and then asking the victims friends for money (transfer using WeChat pay).

Phishing stands out as a prevalent threat, with users falling prey to divulging login credentials through deceptive websites or misleading messages. Vulnerabilities arise from weak passwords, the absence of two-factor authentication, and the risky practice of using identical passwords across multiple accounts, exposing them to potential Wechat hacking risks.

If you use Wechat alot and its Wechat pay then it is best to enable the 2FA transactions.
