The Versa app has been updated to include a new product called Versa Japan. As the name suggests, Versa Japan taps into the Aham Capital (formerly AffinHwang Investment) AHAM World Series - Japan Growth Fund. This fund focuses on Japan and includes major companies such as Sumitomo Mitsui, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Toyota, Hitachi, Sony, and SoftBank.
As a whole the Japanese big caps still have potential to grow due to their dominance in their respective markets, also big cap Japanese companies are global so it is sometimes not a pure Japan play.
The Japanese yen is also at its lowest in many years and the only direction is up and hence why there is possibility of forex gains if the Japanese Yen strengthens. This is because the stocks are bought in Yen and hence the direction of the Yen will affect the price of Versa Japan.
Investing through the Versa app allows us you to start with as little as RM100, while the minimum initial investment for AHAM's Japan Growth Fund is RM1,000 if the investment is done via Aham portal. Hence, using the Versa app to invest in the fund is much more flexible.
