Lured by Looks, Caught by Scams, we're not even talking about OnlyFans
Scammers are posing as attractive women on Facebook groups to deceive men and swindle their money. These fraudsters post alluring photos or videos that elicit desire of women accompanied by cheeky captions designed to entice men into commenting on their posts.
Once someone engages by commenting on the posts, the scammers take it as a sign of interest and proceed to contact them privately. In most cases, they introduce fake investment schemes or other fraudulent plans, preying on the victim's trust and curiosity. Other times it is toward sextortion type of scams by asking victims to exchange intimate photos and then threatened to post to the Internet. There are also cases where victims were asked to download some malware on their PC and their bank accounts were then hacked.
These scammers frequently target Facebook groups related to cars, friendships, cryptocurrency, sports (golf, tennis), and running. After a while interacting with the scammers, the scammers will pull the "I don't use this app much, give me your WhatsApp or Telegram and we can chat there - subsequently leading to the standard pig butchering scam". Stay vigilant and exercise caution when interacting in such groups.
The scam pattern is always the same; new account, minimal posting, varied friends from around the world and some stereotypical sexually enticing content (thirst trap), and a photo that is almost certainly stolen from somewhere.
