EWI Capital Berhad is a Malaysian investment holding company based in Kuala Lumpur. It was previously known as Eco World International Berhad before changing its name in 2025 to reflect a wider business direction. The company focuses on property development and investment mainly in the United Kingdom, Australia and now Malaysia.
The group carries out several types of property related work. Its main activities include property development in the UK and Australia, advisory and project monitoring services, and promotional and marketing services for international projects. The company has been involved in notable developments such as London City Island and Wardian London in the UK. It also provides investment and management services through its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
In recent company news EWI Capital reported a major shift in strategy. It completed an internal restructuring that included recognising large impairments on certain development assets and pivoting the business toward investment holding. As part of that shift the company committed A$100 million as an anchor investor in the TrustCapital Australian Office Fund No 3. This move is intended to generate nearer term income and reshape its portfolio. Tan Sri Liew, chairman of Eco World, also came down from the stage to speak to his investors at the event.
Tan Sri Liew began his career in banking in 1981 before moving into property development and later served as Group Managing Director and CEO of SP Setia Berhad.
The 2025 Annual General Meeting for EWI Capital was held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang City Center (BBCC). BBCC is actually a JV project with UDA holdings and EPF. The AGM meeting brought together shareholders and company management to review the year’s results, strategy and future plans. Attendees were treated to breakfast buffet, RM30 F&B food voucher at selected Lalaport BBCC outlets and an RM20 ang pow as a doorgift.
On the same day, Ecoworld Development berhad AGM was also held.
After the AGM, I noticed Tan Sri Liew and his son dining at Hock Kee Coffee House ็ฆๆฐๅฎๅบท where I was also having a meal. When I later bumped into him at the cashier counter, I cheekily asked if he could pick up my tab, and he generously agreed.
