How Condominium Names Impact Public Perception: The Case of Residensi SK One and Other Housing Developments

According to recent reports, the SK One Seri Kembangan condominium will be renamed Residensi SK One, which has sparked complaints from many purchasers who consider the new name to be low class. 

However, I believe that the word "residensi" does not necessarily connote a lack of class. Further investigation revealed that people are opposing the name primarily because all Selangor government assistance housing, also known as RumahWIP, features the word "residensi" in their condominium names. Examples include Residensi Kepongmas and Residensi Razakmas. 

This isn't the first time that a condominium project's name has caused controversy, as a luxury development was previously renamed Pangsapuri XXYYY, causing a stir. It's worth noting that people do pay attention to the name, which is why many modern condominiums have sophisticated-sounding names such as TheHenge, Fennel, and Pano.
