I recently received an unsolicited message coming from an India country code number via Whatsapp from an individual claiming to be a Shopee employee, requesting that I take a screenshot of my Shopee profile in return for some small survey reward. However, this message is most likely a scam, as scammers often ask for such screenshots to obtain sensitive information, such as the Shopee username and the funds within the Shopee wallet. With this information, scammers may attempt to deceive unsuspecting victims by enticing them to participate in a survey or other activity as a pretext for carrying out their fraudulent schemes.
Additionally, Shopee has no presence on India, it's a predominantly South Easy Asia online shopping giant. The main online shopping platform in India is Flipcart. Scammers really got to try harder on this, at least also use a local 011- number to fool people.
To verify the authenticity of this message, I consulted with ChatGPT, an intelligent language model. Based on its analysis, ChatGPT strongly recommends that I disregard the message, as it is likely a scam.
