The 1st Islamic digital bank in Malaysia ? Dubbed Malaysia's friendliest Digital Bank

Bank Islam, one of Malaysia's leading Islamic banks, has launched a mobile banking application called the Bank Islam BEU app specifically targeting GenZ. The app is a separate app from their Bank Islam GO app which is more catered to their general customers.

Opening a BEU account is also easy, no need to go to the physical branch to setup, all registration is done via e-KYC.

I find the app's UI (user interface) nice, simple and clean but performance leaves some room for improvement. Apparently the app runs on Amazon Web Services in the cloud on the white label cloud bank software Mambu.

The BEU account comes with an optional BEU Visa Debit Card i which comes in different colors.

BEU app has got an expense tracker - budgeting tool (named Aqil Personal Financial Management), a feature which is quite common in other banking/digital banking apps.

BEU has a feature called Gigs whereby freelance jobs are listed inside the app. This is 1 feature that I have never seen before on any banking/digital banking app.

Feature wise the app is ok, they have a debit card, QRpay and savings pocket. The savings pocket is like a goal focus account to cultivate regular savings.

BEU is currently giving a promotional profit rate of 4% PA for BEU Islamic Term Deposits. This is probably the highest among all commercial banks in Malaysia already.
