One major indication of the scam is that the phone number displayed begins with 011-. Scammers favor this number as it can be easily registered with less rigorous checks by mobile operators, most of whom are MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) that lease mobile lines from major companies like Maxis, Celcom, and Digi.
