Shell Asia has recently unveiled their new mobile fuel refueling app. Drawing parallels with the popular Petronas Setel app, this innovation offers a convenient solution for refueling needs. To facilitate seamless payments, the app is designed to securely link with users' credit cards, ensuring a hassle-free transaction experience.
The application seamlessly integrates with BonusLink, allowing you to accumulate points while refueling. This feature is not only convenient for earning points but also serves as a handy tool for tracking your BonusLink rewards. Additionally, the app offers a station locator among its array of features.
The Shell Asia app currently lags behind Petronas Setel and has some ground to cover in terms of features. Unlike Petronas Setel, the Shell Asia app lacks functionalities such as QR payments, order gas, retail transactions, EV charging, and a range of microservices like car maintenance, battery replacement, and roadside assistance.
All transactions done via ShellPay needs to input OTP. According to Seow Lee Ming, the General Manager of Shell Mobility Malaysia, the company choose the OTP security implementation over a few seconds of time-saving to avoid any fraudulent transactions.
Nonetheless, if you are a dedicated user of Shell fuels, the Shell Asia app proves to be a valuable and practical addition to your smartphone. The other fuel companies having such an app is Caltex with Caltex Go app and the already mentioned Petronas Setel.
