Eden Inc is more than restaurants
Eden Inc Bhd functions as an investment holding company, specializing in the provision of management services. The company's operations are organized into distinct segments: Energy Components, Food, Beverage, and Tourism, Manufacturing, and Property.
In the past I only know Eden from their restaurants and the most visible restaurant is the one at KLIA airport. Interestingly Waterworld Langkawi also is one of Eden's subsidiary (Tourism). The company even has ventured into manufacturing of low voltage switchgears (Era Time). The company is also a property developer and its current landbank is at Gebeng Industrial Park (Pahang). Finally, the company is also a power producer with Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) t to operate the Libaran Power Station in Sandakan.
For their 2023 AGM, Eden Inc rewarded shareholders who attended their AGM with 1 Eden restaurant food voucher, 1 ticket to Waterworld Langkawi and a dining utensils set. The door gifts were collected at Eden's Aroma Cafe at PAUM (Persatuan Alumni University Malaya) clubhouse. This cafe is operating inside University Malaya itself. I took MRT bus T815 at Phileo Damansara, after Kelab Renang University Malaysia drop off at bola sepak padang bus stop, walked 10 minutes to PAUM clubhouse.
Notably, Kopersi ABIM (Koperasi Belia Islam Malaysia Berhad) has recently acquired almost 7 million shares of Eden Inc recently, adding an intriguing element to the company's narrative. The
There were no dividends announce during the operating year under review even though the company was operating at net profit.
Updates 20231226I took a trip down to Eden's Aroma Cafe again to utilize the food vouchers. I ordered Fried Kuey Teow (RM14), teh ais (RM4.50) and bubur pisang dessert (RM5.80). The fried Kuey Teow had a bit too much soy sauce however the bubur pisang was surprisingly tasty. I was the only customer at the restaurant, maybe it was a holiday and university was not open.
